The Teatro Sociale, managed by CTB, Centro Teatrale Bresciano (Brescia theater center) hosts the
stable theater of Brescia and holds plays and cultural events.
It is located in the city center in Via Cavallotti 20, not far from the Teatro Grande, it’s about a 10 minute walk from the San Giorgio 9 apartments.
It was founded in the 19th century and it closed for renovations in 1981; before this date, many “light” shows took to its stage, such as operettas, cabaret events, and concerts, whereas the nearby Teatro Grande, with a larger audience capability and prestigious artistic tradition, hosted prose plays, the opera, and classical music concerts.
With renovations complete in 1996, the theater opened its doors again, now with an audience capability of 600 people, and became the main stage for prose plays in the city.
